Top Tips For Improving Mental Well-being

Taking care of your mental well-being is just as important as taking care of your physical well-being – but it is often neglected. In fact, a recent study found that

’nearly 60% of people who are struggling with their mental well-being do not seek help’. This is hardly surprising, there is still a lot of stigma around mental health, and many people don’t want to worry their friends or family.

However, it’s important to remember that there are plenty of steps you can take in order to make positive changes in your life. Here are some top tips to get you started!

  • Reach out when you need help. Don’t suffer in silence, whether you’re dealing with stress or anxiety, it’s important that you know that there is always somebody willing to listen to you and offer support. For example, if you don’t feel comfortable reaching out to a friend or a family member, you can look into mental health services and charities in your local area. Therapy may seem daunting, but it can help you to make a range of positive changes in your life. There are plenty of counseling services, and multiple types of therapy designed to help you with your specific needs.
  • Consider medicinal supplements. Medicinal supplements can be an effective tool for managing some of the symptoms associated with mental well-being, namely feelings of anxiety. For example, THC has well-documented evidence suggesting that it’s a great way to alleviate the physical symptoms of anxiety, helping you to clear your mind. • Take a break. No matter how busy your schedule may be, it’s important that you make time for yourself. After all, taking a break is a great way to clear your mind, address any issues you may be dealing with and start anew. However, when your daily life is hectic, it can sometimes feel hard to justify a break – but you’d be surprised about the many benefits of doing nothing.
  • Practice positive affirmations. Practicing positive affirmations is another great way to improve your mental well-being, due to the fact that it can help to re-program the way you think about yourself and the situation you are in. This is because it helps you to identify negative thoughts and transform them into positive ones. If you’ve never practised positive affirmations before, start small. Stand in front of the mirror each morning and say three positive things about yourself, your attitude or your current situation. For example, you could talk about how well you are doing at work, or how good your hair looks that day. Whatever anxieties you are dealing with, find creative ways to counter these negative or harmful thoughts.
  • Spend more time outdoors. Spending time outdoors, soaking up the sunshine and breathing in the fresh air does wonders for your mental health. This is because it helps to increase your body’s natural production of serotonin, which is often referred to as the happiness hormone. It’s also a great way to de-stress and improve your physical health. Ideally, you should spend as much time outdoors as possible, but even 15 minutes a day will have a huge impact.
