Stress is something that can hugely affect both our minds and our bodies. A lot of people don’t think of stress as a physical condition as well as a mental one, but the two things are actually more connected than you might think. When we become stressed due to a certain situation that is going on around us, we feel it in the pit of our stomach, and it can even manifest itself in other ways, such as headaches. But finding the time to unwind in our busy lives can be pretty challenging, If you have been suffering from stress and you are noticing physical symptoms, see if some of these remedies can help you.
Pain in the body
Stress can present itself in many different physical ways, and some of these can be to do with our bones and muscles. When we are stressed, we naturally tense up our whole bodies, or at least certain parts of our bodies. This is all part of the ‘fight or flight’ response that we have ingrained in us, much like our animal counterparts. Too much tension in the joints and muscles can lead to painful conditions, and in some cases can worsen existing conditions such as scoliosis. If you have developed ongoing pain as a result of stress, it is best to do something about it or it could potentially get worse and start causing you serious problems. If you want to avoid going on medication (something a lot of people are doing these days) try visiting somewhere such as MySpine Chiropractic Center. Here, you can undergo chiropractic manipulation, which aligns bones and muscle back into place, healing the body as it goes.
A breakout of spots and pimples can be a dead giveaway for stress. You may think that breakouts and acne are only things that affect teenagers or people in their very early twenties, but in reality it can affect just about anyone of any age. When this happens, it is important to not overload your skin with too many products, as this can only clog up your pores and worsen the situation. Instead, avoid wearing makeup (if you can) for a day or so and allow your skin to breathe. Most importantly, try not to stress about the pimples! This is easier said than done, but there is no point adding to your own stress about something you can’t control – and it could even make your skin worse, too. Everyone gets pimples, so just try and ride it out.
If you suffer from stress related headaches and migraines, you will know what a pain they can be. The kind of headaches related to stress are usually called tension headaches, and they can be very painful – sometimes leaving the sufferer in bed for days at a time. If you get these kind of headaches regularly, don’t suffer in silence – visit your doctor and explain what’s going on. You might need to have some scans and be offered specialist medication in order to keep them under control.
