Job Search Tips

We all know it can be stressful looking for a new job, especially if you need to start a new job pretty quickly. I figured some job search tips might help from when I was actively looking for a job a few years ago.

Job Search Tips

Clarity

Be clear on what type of jobs you want. Write a list of things you can do and unable to do. From there you can eliminate the jobs which are not suitable for you.

If you excel at something or have specific qualifications, ensure these are the first types of job you apply for.

Change your C.V for each role

As you apply for each position, ensure that you are also changing your C.V to include anything relating to this particular position.

If you are applying for an office job, there is no need to tell them you have previously built houses. Make your strengths stand out and adapt them to the role.

Have a look into an executive resume writing service if you are having issues writing out a good resume for your application.

Prepare for interviews

Check for standard interview questions and prepare your answers. Ensure you are providing the key highlights about you that will attract them to hiring you.

If you have to, answer them in front of a mirror or ask friends and family to interview you. Can’t be more awkward than a family member or friend doing it.

Positivity

Remain positive, from filling out the application form, to the interview.

Try to look a little confident, more so confident that you can do that role.

Remember to smile and ask them questions. Companies love a good question being thrown back.

Check websites as well as job search sites

Sometimes companies don’t list current vacancies on job search sites, so give the websites a check over. Or type the brand then vacancies.

From there you may find more jobs directly through their websites, rather than through the job sites. Like Amsterdam Startup Jobs.

There is many ways you can search and apply for jobs. Just remember not to stress about it.
