Helpful Tips For Healthy Teeth

Better teeth are only a little bit of discipline and some know how away and we’ve got a number of great tips below.
Take these on board and watch as your teeth become the pearly whites you want.

  1. The White Teeth Diet

If you are smoking cigars or cigarettes, or enjoying black tea, coffee and red wine, the chances are that you could end up with teeth that are not quite as pearly white as you would like. Other culprits for dingy teeth include dark juices, gravies and colas. The bottom line is, if a food is dark before you put it into your mouth, it will more than likely stain your teeth. Always brush right after you eat or drink foods that can stain your teeth and always use a good bleaching agent. You can find a quality bleaching agent over the counter or right from your dentist. Tip: for a quick cleaning, eat an apple!

  1. Ditch Your Toothbrush

You should think about chucking your toothbrush, or at least changing out the head of an electric toothbrush, every 2 to 3 months. If you do not, you are literally transferring bacteria from it into your mouth. The best way to brush your teeth is by setting your toothbrush up at a 45 degree angle on your gums, then gently moving it in a circular motion instead of back and forth. Grip your toothbrush like a pencil so that you are not scrubbing too hard. Alternatively, an electric tooth brush can be a great addition – you can see the best of them  here.

  1. Clean That Tongue

Enlisting the help of a tongue scraper each morning will both freshen your breath and help you to remove your tongue plaque. A major cause of bad breath will be the build-up of bacteria on the tongue. Daily scraping can help to keep this bacteria from building up. As a matter of fact, using a tongue scraper on your tongue will be a lot more effective than it will be to use a toothbrush on your tongue. Here are some tips.

  1. Select Detergent Foods

Any food that is crisp or firm will help to clean teeth while you are eating them. Apples are known as being nature’s toothbrush, with other tooth-cleaning food options being celery, carrots, and popcorn. To get the best result, make sure that the detergent foods that you eat are at the end of your meal if you are not going to be able to brush in a traditional sense after you eat.

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar Gargle

If you are able to gargle with apple cider vinegar in the morning before brushing, you can remove stains, whiten your teeth and kill any bacteria that may be on your teeth and gums.

  1. Braces

Cosmetic dentistry procedures can make all the difference when it comes to ensuring your teeth look great. Unlike days of old when large braces were a necessity, the likes of Invisalign have changed this with their small, fantastic braces that can really help to ensure teeth look great and straight.

  1. Brush With Baking Soda Weekly

This will help you to remove stains while whitening your teeth, and you use it just like you would toothpaste. If you do not have baking soda on hand, salt can also be used as an alternative. Just be sure that you spit it out completely. If your gums feel raw when using salt, switch to using salt while brushing less often. These are great for dentures also which you can learn more about.

  1. Keep It Fresh

In order to check the freshness of your breath, all you have to do is lick your palm and then smell it when it is still wet. If there is any smell, you need to reach for a sugar free breath mint. If you use mouth wash, just be sure that it is alcohol free. A lot of store bought mouth washes have a great deal of alcohol, which can dry your mouth, making the tissues more susceptible to bacteria.
