Create A Truly Relaxing Outdoor Space With These Three Simple Elements
Creating a relaxing outdoor space is key to enjoying your time at home. The ability to get outside and chill at a moment’s notice can certainly work wonders to improve your well-being. Unfortunately, while most of us know a thing or two about calming interior decor ideas, creating that same cosy vibe outside can feel a lot harder. After all, there are no comforting walls or room features here, and even a small garden can seem vast when you’re trying to make it intimate.
Luckily, creating a truly relaxing outdoor space is nowhere near as difficult as you might imagine. All you need are the following three things.
# 1 – Private Hedges
Hedges that are kept neatly trimmed with the help of a tree surgeon are a great aesthetic addition to any outdoor space. Hedges that line the border of your outdoor area are also fantastic for blocking out the rest of the world and creating a real sanctuary feel.
As well as making everything seem a bit more snug and appealing, well-placed hedges are particularly fantastic for creating privacy in overlooked gardens. If you constantly feel like your neighbours can see your every move outside, this could be key for encouraging you outside more often and making that area feel like it’s somewhere just for you and your family. As well as using hedges around your property borders, you could also use a maze-like planting effect to create small sanctuaries within your garden, which could house things like seating areas, outdoor fire pits, and even relaxing outdoor equipment like a hot tub or home spa.
If you want something a little more secure than just hedges, then you could always opt for fencing. Composite fencing is one of the best when you want something secure and durable that doesn’t need much in the way of maintenance.
# 2 – Calming Water Features
Whether you live next to a busy road or simply don’t love the barking of next-door’s dogs, thinking about sound outside can make a huge difference to your enjoyment here. In particular, choosing calming sounds through the addition of things like water features can help you unwind and enter a more mindful space. In particular, you’ll want to consider water features like fountains or waterfalls that provide a slow trickle sound which you can enjoy while eating outside, taking a moment for some fresh air, or even entertaining your close friends.
# 3 – Somewhere to Sit
If you don’t have anywhere to sit outside, then you probably won’t spend time relaxing here. It’s that simple. To create a true outdoor haven, you therefore need to prioritise comfortable seating according to your family’s preferences. Most obviously, patio or decking areas can be great for complete seating setups that might include comfortable sofas and even dining chairs and tables. Alternatively, you may prefer to have family fun with a truly relaxing seating option like a well-placed hammock or hanging chair. Simply consider what you would use the most, and then choose a hidden-away corner of your garden for a seating area that can instantly send you to a more relaxed headspace.
These three elements are easy enough to put into place, and they could transform how you relax outside.
