Teaching The Kids About Road Safety
It’s usually taught in school, but I wanted to do something at home to teach the kids about road safety.
My oldest is now in high school and will start going on his own soon enough, so it was time to get some knowledge going and have fun with road safety.
We played a road safety game, now my kids are like super competitive so out came their laptops and both did this fun interactive quiz together from Accident Advice Helpline.
It’s a very simple quiz that asks questions about road safety, a short little film, then questions each time.
For example, there is a car coming down the road and it asks you a question. Then a boy walking along the road, then another question.
You also learn from it about safety when crossing, roads and things you need to know about road safety. But with a cute cartoon that the kids really liked.
It’s very much common knowledge, but certainly something to keep minds refreshed or teaching younger kids about safety.
I do remember road safety was boring in school and possibly took nothing in, just learnt from experience and common sense, plus my Mum barking ‘Sam, don’t do that! Sam, watch where you are going!’
I hope they use something as fun as this in school, I feel it is really important for children to learn the importance of safety around roads.
When you are finished with the quiz, it tells you how many you got right (Both got all 8 right) and what was even cooler according to my boys, was they could print out a certificate!
So now we have several certificates on my fridge because they are rather chuffed with themselves.

What do you think about the quiz? Do you think something like this is really important?
