Plantar Fasciitis At Home Treatments

Most people at one point in their life will have suffered with Plantar Fasciitis which is quite an awful experience as we obviously have to walk whilst in pain. So this got me looking into Plantar Fasciitis at home treatments to ensure that I could find some quick, easy to use remedies to help my feet.

Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the plantar fascia – the tissue that connects your heel to your toes – and causes heel pain when walking or running.
Very common with those that run or exercise due to the trauma on the heel, so ensuring you have the right shoes is important.

Here are my top plantar fasciitis at home treatments.

Plantar Fasciitis At Home Treatments

Footwear

Of course footwear has to be the top option as this is very important to reduce the pain. Buying the right shoes for plantar fasciitis is the most important factor.

There are companies out there that makes shoes especially to help relieve the pain for plantar fasciitis so get looking around. Of course, try some on and ensure they have soft soles that support the foot really well.

If you are a runner or use exercise machines that can cause trauma to the heel, ensure you are wearing specialist trainers or footwear to help avoid the pressure on the heel.

Avoid shoes such as high heels or shoes with a hard base to allow your foot to heal.

Medication

You can get over the counter painkillers such as NSAIDS which will reduce the inflammation. Either oral or topical, they will help reduce the inflammation and in turn, reduce the pain.

If you have long lasting pain, steroid injections may be offered by a GP or specialist to help reduce the pain,

Physical Therapy

There are some good physical therapy options out there, even ones you can do at home to strengthen the muscles in your foot and help ease the pain over time.

Massage/Alternative therapies

There are some alternative therapies you can look into such as massage to help with tension, or even things such as acupuncture can help.

Foot Care

Taking good care of your foot is especially important, especially if you are on your feet a lot.

Using epsom salts in a foot soak with peppermint will help soothe inflammation. There are also many essential oils you can use such as lavender, eucalyptus, rosemary and mint which can help reduce inflammation and soothe the pain.

There are many ways you can help heal your foot, but the most important thing to consider is footwear and reducing the trauma on your foot and allowing it to heal.
