Get Off to a Good Start This Year – Tips for a Healthy Body and Mind

The start of year presents the ideal opportunity to make small or large-scale changes to your life to improve your wellbeing, in terms of both body and mind.

From joining an exercise class to learning how to manage stress, you have the power to make those changes and become a happier and healthier version of yourself. Here are a few small changes that you can make to your life to help get yourself on that road to a happier life:

Add walking into your everyday routine

A 20 minute walk each day not only gives you time to clear your head to wind down after a hard day but it also gives you additional exercise that you wouldn’t be getting. This can easily by factored in by walking to the shop instead of driving, walk to bus stop that is further down the road or take a walk in your lunchtime break. After a few weeks you may see that it is making a real difference to your life.

Learn about Mindfulness

Medical professionals have begun to look at alternative methods to dealing with stress and anxiety and Mindfulness is now a very well regarded method to help improve mental wellbeing. There is lots of information available for you to find out more about it and how it can help you to change your life. There are so many ways to get help now.

Analyse your Diet

Okay so most people try to go on a diet in early January, only to give it up a few weeks later. Faddy diets are not sustainable, what you may find more useful is performing a thorough analysis of your diet. Collate a list of the types of food and drinks you are consuming and try and make some small changes to your diet. If you’re a coffee lover then maybe think about reducing your intake to realise some health benefits. Does your diet match the balanced diet graph? Use this to make changes and to balance your diet more appropriately. Try to prepare your own meals rather than picking up pre-prepared ones as then you will be able to see exactly what is going into your food.

Spend More Time with Family and Friends

When you lead a busy life it can be difficult to keep up with all of the people you enjoy spending time with. Try saving time in other areas of life, maybe get your food groceries delivered by your supermarket instead of going yourself, or use discounted companies like this postmates promo code to do some of the collections you would normally do.  Seeing family and friends can give you a real boost and help you to deal with some of the worries that you may have. Laughter is a great remedy, so try to schedule time to go and watch a funny film, visit a comedy night or just have a night in with great company.

Join a class/club

Again, it’s not always easy building activities into a hectic schedule but if you can join a local class or group then it won’t take too much time out of your week but you will feel the benefit of both the routine and the social time.
