We decided that our wedding was to be on a budget and this made me think about some tips for wedding photos on a budget that I had from when we were looking at ways to reduce our costs down for the big day.
Your big day is going to be one of the best days of your life so you want to make sure it is perfect, just as importantly, that your big day is photographed well.
So when you are thinking about how you want your photographs to be, check out tips for wedding photos on a budget to make sure you have several options and you can make the right choice for you and your budget.
5 Tips For Wedding Photos On A Budget
1. Choose a beginner/hobbyist photographer
There are many photographers that are a beginner, hobbyist or not a professional photographer and happy to take pictures of your big day for a low cost.
Generally, they will only ask for payment of their time/tools, or you may have a budding photographer in your family that needs some work for their portfolio.
Many will offer to take pictures of the big day to be able to use them for their portfolio.
This is a great way to keep the costs as low as possible and also allows a photographer to learn and have some photographs for their portfolio. Even having reviews helps them a long way!
2. Everyone takes photos
One option would be asking everyone to take wedding photos and upload them to a dedicated website where you can have all your photographs for the big day. Some are very low costs whilst others are free. But check usage/storage etc as some may only give you basic features for free or a maximum amount of space.
This way, you can get everyone’s viewpoint for the big day and phones can have really great photography capabilities.
If you want professional pictures of the actual wedding, you can ask your party to take pictures before and after, this will cut the hours needed for the photographer down and of course cut the costs down too.
3. Do it yourself
You can think about doing it yourself if you already have a good camera and lighting.
So you can purchase additional items that can help your picture taking and you can also make sure you are doing your wedding photos on a budget.
Lighting is important and if you end up with a dull day outside, having your own lights is a great idea to give you beautifully bright pictures.
I really wanted to include this in my tips for wedding photos post as there are many ways you can do the photographs yourself. Although you may need someone to help you behind the camera at the moments where you are preoccupied. So might be an idea to invite someone to help.
You can just do the before photographs yourself, cutting down the time you need a photographer for and ask them to just photograph the wedding. This will also give you beautiful wedding photos on a budget.
4. Photography freelancers
If you are still looking for a photographer for your big day, why not try freelancers for your wedding photos on a budget rather than paying a company who will only source freelancers most of the time anyway.
This way, you cut out the middle man and also the costs for the middle man.
Some may offer to take the photographs cheaper if they can use them for their portfolio.
You can call around, get quotes and check out their work. Decide whether this is for you or not.
5. Print out your own wedding photos
The costs can certainly add up when you are asking the photographs to be printed out for you when you use a professional photographer.
You would be better going to Boots Photo or a similar company to have your photographs printed, you can even choose the size, especially if you wanted a large one or even a canvas.
This will keep the costs very low but allow you to print the ones you want to keep and pop into a book.
Final Thoughts
Whether you do it yourself or look for a freelance photographer, you can make sure you have some wonderful ideas to keep the costs low for your photography.
There are things to consider when planning a wedding and one important aspect if your photographs!
