Each lake will offer something a little different.

Loch Leven, Scotland

Not only can you find macaroni pie, great whiskey and plenty of haggises – you can find some great fishing here too! This loch offers a massive 3,600 acres of shallower water – which is why it is so popular.

The trout here grow big, and they grow strong, so a more experienced fisherman used to fighting for a catch will enjoy the challenge.

You can’t bank fish here, so you’ll need to head out on a boat from the fisheries.

Anglers Paradise, Devon

Just like the name suggested, fishing enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice here. There are 30 stunning lakes and plenty of breathtaking scenery too.

A day ticket will give you access to most of the lakes in the estate; however, if you want access to the exclusive lakes – you’ll need to stay at Anglers Paradise.

What makes this a great place is that for avid fishers who have children, this is a great place for them to start. It’s beginner-friendly but caters for everyone. You can pull up trout, koi, catfish, carp, perch and tench.

Horseshoe Lake, Gloucestershire

This lake is reserved for members of The Carp Society, and you will pay for each hour you are on the lake too.

Cobbleacre Park

Fishing breaks at Cobbleacre Park are a great choice as they have on-site rental holiday homes, plus plenty of touring space. So you can choose how to stay. It also has an on-site store where you can pick up things like bait and tackle.

You’ll need to book the lakes in advance, and each of the lakes has a set of rules that you can find on the website.

You can fish up ide, roach, perch, carp, rudd, silvers, skimmers and catfish – depending on which lake you are fishing at.

Caerphilly Castle, South Wales

When you fish here, you can enjoy the stunning Norman castle views, as well as South Wales in general. There are several lakes that you can fish from, and a variety of fish too. Tench, eels, carp, bream, perch and crucian carp are some of the fish you’ll find here.
