Easy, Effective Ways To Supercharge Your Health And Wellbeing

Health and wellbeing are firmly in the spotlight, and many of us are actively trying to lead healthier lifestyles. If you’re eager to make positive changes, here are some easy, effective ways to supercharge your physical and mental health.

Increasing activity levels

Being more active is a fantastic way to improve your health and wellbeing. Exercise is beneficial for your body but it also offers an array of advantages for mental health. Regular exercise reduces the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some forms of cancer, as well as anxiety and depression. Moving your body can also help to tackle stress, clear your mind and boost your energy levels. When you exercise, your body releases endorphins and the levels of serotonin and dopamine in your brain increase. If you’re new to exercise, aim to build up your fitness gradually and find activities that you enjoy. You don’t have to live in the gym to be healthy. You can walk, cycle, swim, do yoga, play tennis, learn to dance or exercise at home.

Focusing on nutrition

When we talk about diet, we tend to get carried away with weight loss and thinking about dropping pounds. While it can be beneficial for your health to lose weight if your BMI is too high, it’s essential to realise the importance of nutrition when planning what to eat. Your diet should provide you with all the vitamins and minerals you need. Try to embrace healthy eating. You can search for simple, quick nutritious recipes online, get ideas from blogs or social media or consult a personal trainer, nutritionist or doctor for advice.

Personal hygiene

Many of us have been talking about health and hygiene for the past 18 months. While it’s hugely beneficial to wash your hands to reduce the risk of catching and spreading Covid-19, washing your hands isn’t just important during the pandemic. Using natural hand soap and sanitiser will also help to lower the risk of seasonal illnesses, such as flu and coughs and colds. Wash your hands thoroughly throughout the day and carry sanitiser with you.

Getting enough sleep

Sleep is essential for optimum physical and psychological health. Most of us can bounce back or get through the day after one sleepless night, but if you suffer from insomnia or you don’t get enough sleep regularly, you’ll start to notice the effects. A lack of sleep can affect your mood and make you feel lethargic and sluggish, it could impact immunity and it might also put you at greater risk of stress and anxiety. Try to get into the habit of going to bed at the same time each night and take time in the evening to relax. Ideally, you should aim for 7-8 hours of sleep per night.
