Slow Cooker Liners
I’ve only started using these and what a difference it has made! I also found some really cheap slow cooker liners from around £1 for 5 and £4 for 25.
You can pop one in, it stops the food from sticking to the sides and makes it easier to clean.
I know some people really struggle to pick up slow cookers including myself as they are so heavy!

Wire Rack/Heatproof Mat
If you take out the pot from the slow cooker, you want to consider one of the slow cooker accessories which is a wire rack or a heatproof mat that will protect your surfaces from the heat of the pot.
The pot gets very hot so protecting your surfaces is important

Oven Mitts
Of course, when you are taking out the pot, you want to make sure you are using oven mitts to protect your hands as they do get very hot especially if you had it on all day.

Utensils
You will still need a range of utensils, from serving spoons to shredder claws, there are some utensils you will still need to use.
Personally, I use large soup/serving spoons to spoon out the food and if I am making something like pulled pork, then shredder claws or similar is really helpful!
Food Containers
When making food in my slow cooker, it is mostly just me that eats it as I am vegetarian and eat different foods to everyone else.
So I tend to make a lot and then portion it up into microwaveable food containers and either refrigerate or freeze it for later on.
Final thoughts
When using my slow cooker, I do have a lot of slow cooker accessories to make sure I am safe and protecting my surfaces and hands from burning. As the pot gets incredibly warm throughout the day, you want to make sure you are protecting yourself from harm.

I was thinking I didn’t have any slow cooker accessories but it turns out I do. hehehe I am always running out of containers though. I always make too much when I make a meal in the slow cooker so there’s always leftovers. x
