Real Kombucha Review – Testing A Gluten-Free Non-Alcoholic Wine
As someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, it can be hard to find delicious drinks that are alcohol-free but still have the look of an alcoholic drink. From the bottle to the drink, some people might miss the taste or feel of an alcoholic drink so want to try something that is non-alcoholic and tasty. I am here with my Real Kombucha Review which I got sent to try and I’m here in my own words what I thought of it!
Kombucha is becoming increasingly popular as a healthy lifestyle choice, but why? Carry on reading to see why Real Kombucha is the perfect non-alcoholic and gluten-free drink. I hope you enjoy my Real Kombucha review.
What is Real Kombucha
The brand Real Kombucha is a British brand that sells beautiful kombucha drinks in 2 wonderful flavours:
Dry Dragon – A beautiful fruity toned kombucha with First Flush Darjeeling tea and hints of rhubarb, white peach and a touch of blackcurrant. You are mesmerised by the sweetness and touch of spice undertone, that you can’t put it down.
Royal Flush – A Sauvignon Blanc style drink flavoured with beautiful citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit with a beautiful leafy undertone. If you want a crisp, fresh drink, this one is for you.
There is also a limited edition one too called Ice Goddess which is a limited edition. Personally, I have not tried this one myself, but it sounds simply divine!
The brand was created after the owner, David couldn’t find beautiful drinks to pair with his meals. I know that feeling, sometimes I wouldn’t mind a decent glass of something that I can enjoy with my homemade lasagne. As a teetoller by choice, I found it hard to find the right drinks that I could pair with my food.
I also wanted to point out that the drinks are also gluten-free, I have seen people warn about kombucha in the past as it could potentially contain gluten. So knowing this is gluten-free is amazing to me. Not only that, there are so many benefits of Kombucha, which I have gone into a little more in-depth further down.
Real Kombucha Review
I received both the Royal Flush and Dry Dragon flavour and going to review them both further down the post.
The packaging for me is what really stuck out to me. They remind me of a good bottle of champagne, if you pulled this out at an event, people would think you were drinking. You could slip the night away, enjoying a bottle of non-alcoholic fizz and no one would be none the wiser.
Not that there is any shame in drinking, I am a teetotaller and have been for many years. But I remember the disparaging remarks about not drinking I got and how life is easier to not talk about it. So why not take something that could easily pass off as an alcoholic drink by the looks?
I love how they are very reminiscent of a champagne bottle. If there are a few of you sitting around the table, you will all enjoy the celebration of opening this wonderful drink and mark occasions with it.
We did a full family taste test with this because I wanted a range of reviews to include.
My Review
Now, for me, I absolutely enjoyed both of them. They are different in taste and loved them so much. To the point, I would buy them again.
Royal Flush hands down reminded me of a citrus sparkling white wine. It’s delicious and crisp. Perfect to be paired with lighter meals like a fresh salad or a stir fry. Really beautiful splashed into a risotto, how could I not try it in one?
If you are looking for something that is similar to a beautiful crisp white wine, then this one is for you.
Dry Dragon has me wondering what it is because of the taste. It resembles a lighter red wine, with the deepness from the spice and tea, but then the fruit comes through and gives it an edge. Perfectly paired with a delicious lasagne or pasta dish! Yes, I tried a splash of this in my bolognese and wow, this made it really tasty!
If you are looking for something a little bolder, then this is the one for you!
About Kombucha
Kombucha is a newer drink that is becoming really popular especially in the USA. So, now is the time it became popular over here in the UK! It’s a fermented tea-based drink infused with many flavours, depending on the Kombucha you buy.
Kombucha has been around for over 2000 years, starting in China, travelling to Japan and recently to the west. It’s becoming increasingly popular and a great alternative to alcohol! Although, some do like to use it as a mixer.
It’s said to aid great gut health and help digestion, which is why it is good to be paired with foods. There are other supposed health benefits, such as helping hair loss. It can contain lactic-acid bacteria which is a good prebiotic and also plenty of B vitamins. Although, more research is needed so far, it seems great for your digestive system!
Family Thoughts
They all had a taste of each of the drinks. I went around the family and have listed their thoughts as below:
Family member 1: Out of them both, Dry Dragon was my favourite. It’s richer, the tea flavour really comes through and would be my first choice. It’s delicious and has a bit of warmth to it. Royal Flush is very delicious, light and crisp.
Family Member 2: I loved each of them the same, I couldn’t simply choose. Dry Dragon is warming and reminds me of a good red, but then Royal Flush is light, refreshing and simply beautiful. I think I would choose them based on what I am eating to complement my meal.
Family Member 3: I did not expect either of these to taste so wonderful! I do prefer the Royal Flush as it is light, like a light white wine and something I would have most days!
Final Thoughts
Overall, I was very impressed with Real Kombucha and both the flavours are delicious. Whether you want to take it to a party or just enjoy the Kombucha for health benefits, you can enjoy a glass of this whenever you fancy! Why not grab a Real Kombucha Mixed Case for your gatherings!
As there are benefits to drinking Real Kombucha, this is a much healthier choice than alcohol or some drinks. It’s a healthier alternative and super delicious at the same time.
What do you think about the range and Kombucha in general? Did you enjoy my Real Kombucha review?
*I was sent these products to test, they are reviewed in my own words and off my own back. Each review is written by myself and there is no sway in my opinion.
