How To Choose The Right Laminate Flooring
How to choose the right laminate flooring is an absolute nightmare. It can cause a lot of headaches along the way. It’s wise to take your time, find a trustworthy and reputable seller/fitter. Take your time ensuring you have all the information you need.
After a lot of research, I decided to write a short guide to help you choose the right laminate flooring for your home/office.
As I have a lot of heavy floor use with my office chair in my office, I decided to have laminate flooring installed and this is my story about choosing the right one.
How To Choose The Right Laminate Flooring – Simple Tips
Types of laminate flooring
There are a few types of laminate flooring and choosing the right one is very important.
Now there is engineered wood which is layers of real wood glued together. Real solid wood flooring which speaks for itself, then plastic laminate flooring.
Real solid wood is the most expensive and requires a lot of aftercare continually through the duration of the flooring life.
Plastic laminate flooring is very durable against wear and tear but also water. So it’s great for places where you have either a lot of heavy traffic or you have chairs that move around, such as an office chair. They are also great for kitchens which are prone to being wet.
Engineered flooring needs a lot of care and attention, can be scratched especially with furniture and takes a lot of time and effort to care for it. Spills need to be cleaned quickly otherwise they can warp or bubble. You need to be careful when cleaning engineered wood flooring as it requires a lot of care and attention.
It’s important to note that engineered wood can be sanded and refinished up to 3 times so can last a lot longer so long as it is not abused (Wet or has moving things on it such as chairs)
There are a lot of pros and cons for either.
There is also the option for luxury vinyl flooring too which is another good option, especially for kitchens.
Laminate flooring for the area
It’s important to note that when you are choosing the laminate flooring, you are taking note of the area you are putting it in and choosing the right one for your area.
For example, a kitchen will need either luxury vinyl flooring or laminate flooring. This is due to being an area where it can get wet easily, such as spillages or your washing machine leaking. If you have plastic laminate flooring, it is protected and can easily clean it up. Whereas if you have engineered wood flooring, it will bubble and warp if not cleaned right away.
Light traffic areas and areas where there is no furniture movement are good for engineered wood flooring. Less chance of scuffing/scratching, water and furniture catching the floor. Bedrooms are typically a good idea, or somewhere you use rugs for high traffic areas such as hallways or living rooms.
Budget
Obviously, your budget will also depend on the type of flooring you have. The cots also come down to what company you decide to use for your flooring too. You an consider a reliable flooring company atlanta to ensure you have the best service available.
Plastic and vinyl is the cheapest option whilst solid wood flooring is the most expensive.
There are also fitting costs to think about, underlays if needed. Then of course the aftercare if you choose engineered wood or solid wood.
There is a lot to think about when purchasing flooring and budget is equally important. Especially if you are doing a lot of rooms around the home.
How to choose the right laminate flooring is also important as this will ensure you are purchasing one that is suitable but also fits within your budget.
Try not to cut costs and have it fitted professionally. This can ensure it is fitted correctly and give more longevity to your flooring.
Taking good care of it after will also ensure it lasts and nothing happens to your beautiful flooring.
