Have a Great Time in Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is Spain’s second most populous island and one of the most magical European holiday destinations. If you are planning on holidaying there anytime soon, you are in for a real treat. To make sure you have the best possible time on your holiday, I have put together a list of things that will help you have a great time when you travel to Gran Canaria:

Book Airport Transfers

If you want to start your Gran Canaria holiday off on the right foot, book a transfer from the airport to your hotel via a reliable company like booktaxigrancanaria, so that you don’t have to worry about annoying coach rides or finding your own way to your hotel.

Avoid the Tap Water

When staying on Gran Canaria, or any of the Canary Islands for that matter, you should avoid the tap water, which is rarely drinkable and could leave you with an upset stomach, Stick to bottled water for the duration of your hotel and you’ll spend more time lying on the beach than in bed.

The Best Beach

Arguably, the best beach on the whole island of Gran Canaria is Maspalomas. You must take the time to stroll along its sandy shores and climb the steps of its lighthouse, as the sun sets, at least once.

Money

There are ATMs on almost every corner in Gran Canaria, so you don’t have to worry about running out of cash. However, if you plan to use your cash card, make sure that your bank knows you will be traveling, so that you don’t get cut off from your cash supply, and check for any rates.

The Weather

Gran Canaria benefits from a tropical climate all year round, but you should bear in mind that the more mountainous parts of the island can get quite cold in the winter months. So, pack a handful of warm clothes along with your swimming costume if you’re staying at a higher altitude.

Bring Your Driver’s License

There is so much to do and see on the island that it makes sense to bring along your driving license and hire a car. You’ll be able to pack in much more if you do, and having photo ID will ensure that you’re able to get a drink from the pool bar, should you want to let your hair down, without having to carry your passport around and risk losing it.

Visit the Mountains

You may have booked your holiday intending to have fun in the sun, doing little more than catching the rays and taking a dip in the sea, but I really recommend you take the time to visit the mountains. You can book a jeep safari at http://www.grancanariajeepsafari.com/, and I promise that you won’t regret it when you see the spectacular views out from the island.

Museo Nestor

You should also take the time to visit the Museo Nestor, where you will be able to browse interesting artworks as you shelter from the heat and soak up some culture.
