Essential Care Odylique Tea Tree and Herb Shampoo
As you may have noticed from my tweets, I have been looking for a natural shampoo. So I came across the Essential Care Odylique Tea Tree and Herb Shampoo.
The reason for this, I seem to get an itchy and dry scalp after using shampoo and conditioners with chemicals, my scalp hates them.
So first off, here is more about the product:
Essential Care Odylique Tea Tree and Herb Shampoo
We make our Tea Tree Shampoo with a mild cleansing agent (made from corn sugar) and plant-derived conditioners. Many people find they do not need a separate conditioner with this shampoo. – The gentle detergent cleanses effectively but does not dry the scalp and the botanical conditioning ingredients replenish goodness to the hair and scalp. Our shampoo is free from sulphates (SLeS, ALS and SLS), salt / sodium chloride, artificial preservatives, artificial fragrance etc.
Now for the review:
I was so excited when this came the next day, so great impression as it was super fast delivery!
I came wrapped in bubble wrap to stop the bottle from being damaged and I had so much fun opening it.
The bottle itself is fabulous, it has a pump too which is great, especially for me as sometimes I struggle holding and squeezing bottles (the joys of having M.E)
The pump is very easy to push down, meaning you spend less time faffing and trying to get the product out, which wastes time, water and energy.
For someone with my condition, saving energy is a must!
The first thing I notice, is the wonderful scent.
Now I know you read this and thought ‘Oh no, tea tree? It stinks!’
That I do agree, it’s a very strong, potent and bitter scent.
However, this shampoo is far from it.
Combined with the herbs it gives a wonderful invigorating scent that is not bitter or over powering.
It reminds me of my herb garden, fresh and natural.
Just like spring!
The consistency of the shampoo is quite thin, also has little beads in which help cleanse the hair better and great for getting that dry skin off your scalp.
You can see the small white beads in this picture and the colour is quite a pale cream.
I really do like the look of it,
Now, the first wash I used 5 pump fulls, my hair was covered in oil so it did not foam up very well.
I like to cover my hair in oils as it helps the hair stay soft and nourished, whilst moisturising the scalp.
You can see there isn’t a lot of foam.
Now don’t forget this isn’t your average shampoo so you won’t get masses of suds, this is about right,
When massaging into my scalp, straight away my itchiness was relieved.
My scalp felt less irritated and this was before I washed it off.
The relief was amazing.
With second wash, I got more of a soaping action going on, loved the feel of it against my scalp, so refreshing and calming.
I only used 3-4 pumps this time round.
You can see already how shiny my hair is, this is before rinsing too.
I left the second lot on for about 5 minutes, just so it can get on my scalp and work deeper than my hair.
Once I rinsed off the shampoo, dried my hair with a towel and went off to brush it.
Now my hair did get a bit tangled, but because I hadn’t used a conditioner, this is normal for me.
Once I brushed through my hair, I let it dry naturally.
If you didn’t know, using heat on your scalp when it is irritated, dry or itchy can make it a lot worse.
Once it dried, I brushed it again and my hair felt so soft, flyaway hair wasn’t sticking up everywhere and it had such a nice shine to it.
I have a lot of flyaway hair due to new hair growth from it falling out badly after pregnancy.
My little squirt was worth it though!
My hair smells amazing, it looks even more amazing!
The Essential Care Odylique Tea Tree and Herb Shampoo is a wonderful product!
After 3 uses, my scalp no longer itches, feels sore or red.
You can even see I now have volume in my hair, something I seriously lack and used many products full of chemicals to achieve volume, but this… natural product… gave me volume without it!
I can usually go 2-3 days without washing before I am loaded with greasy hair… however when using this, I have found I can go from 3-4 days without washing, maybe even 5!
So long chemicals, I found a firm favourite – the Essential Care Odylique Tea Tree and Herb Shampoo
For a 200ml bottle this is £11 however it will last you twice as long as your regular shampoo because you can leave your hair longer without washing and you don’t have to use as much as normal.
If you find it’s drying or doesn’t give enough shine, use a natural oil afterwards on the ends.
I paired this with the Argan Dew Intensive Replenishing Mask
