Tips For A Tranquil Garden On A Budget
Grass
Having a grass area is important, but not everyone has the time or patience to maintain it. So grass might not be an option for you. However, what about Astroturf as an option?
You have it laid down and that is it. You can place blankets down on it and relax, let the kids run wild on it and play.
All you need to do to maintain it would be to give it a quick clean with the garden hose.
Faux grass is a popular and easy option at the moment with people finding ways to make life easy but have a beautiful garden.
You could also consider laying down turf if you want to have beautiful grass really easy.
Lawn seed is another way to get beautiful grass and have it luscious and gree.
Both need continual mowing and general lawn care so something to be mindful of.
Garden Features
We all want that beautiful garden, but costs have us held back. So to overcome this is to find a beautiful feature for your garden, or create your own.
I’ve seen the most beautiful herb/vegetable or even flower boxes made from recycled crates and wood that is no longer being used.
Many happy hours have been spent looking at garden sun rooms online and picturing family and friends sat in them during summer and enjoying the outdoors together.
I have also seen water features that were cheap, but when you plant some lovely flowers and shrubs around it, they make it look magical. Maybe add a few lights for a lovely night-time effect.
Making your own waterfall is easy these days with so many tutorials online. Worth making a note that you can find ways to do this that is also cheap to run.
Finding cheap sculptures or large ornaments for your garden is another way to make it look lovely. You can find many on a budget too. I have some wonderful top tips for gardening.
I know people who made little fairy features around the garden, adding doors to trees (Without harming the tree) and growing beautiful flowers.
Flowers/Shrubs
Flowers, shrubs and plants can make a garden look very different.
I found getting bags of wildflower seeds is the perfect way to transform an area of land that you can’t really do much with. They will grow some beautiful flowers and give a lovely look to your garden.
There are many flowers you can grow with ease straight from a seed. Scatter in an area and watch them grow.
You can also find plants that spread which are a good idea for filling larger areas and keeping the costs low. Lavender, for example, is a plant that loves the room to grow.
Shrubs and evergreen plants are good to plant for all year round beauty. You can pick them up quite cheap and plant them yourself. Most don’t need tending
Illumination
I love my garden at night and it’s very dark, especially as I have a lot of big trees around.
Wrapping some lights around a big tree is a popular idea for lovely night-time illumination in your garden.
You can also find solar lights that you can put along fences, in the ground and wrap around things. These are really good for saving money on power such as batteries and not requiring mains to plug them into.
They can also turn on at night automatically so they are not on all day, or require turning on.
Getting your tranquil garden on a budget may seem stressful, but have a wonder around places such as Home Bargains and B&M’s if you are in the UK and you will find some really beautiful budget items.
Furniture
Garden furniture has been expensive the last few years but you can create your own on a budget.
I’ve seen beautiful garden furniture made out of crates which are given away most of the time, or very cheap to buy.
Then purchase cheap cushions to sit on and voila! You have cheap garden furniture.
Another option is to upcycle things you can find on Facebook Marketplace and places that sell second-hand items really cheap. Give them a nice lick of paint and a cheap makeover and you have garden furniture that looks new.
Even buying plastic garden furniture, you can make it look nice by adding some throws and cushions.
Everyone wants a tranquil garden and doing them on a budget and with ease is what we all want.
With some initiative and looking around, you can find ways to make your garden tranquil and have a space you are comfortable in.
