Plastic Recycling Is The Future – Are You Ready For A Powerful Change?
Plastic recycling is the future with the incredible and astonishing amount of plastics that are used yearly in the UK. But there isn’t enough being done in the UK and a large proportion of this ends up in landfills where it just sits there. Many of the plastic ends up in our oceans and is destroying the ocean life.
Before I get talking about this further, there is an active petition right now and we need 10,000 signatures before it closes on 19th April! The petition is here: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/553651
Betteryou has created the petition to get the government acting on this sooner, being more clearer and coming up with a great strategy in relation to plastic recycling.
At what point are governments around the world going to admit this is a huge problem, start a mass scale clean-up campaign and start recycling plastics properly? Are you being Eco-friendly?
How many of us can say we know what can and can not be recycled? I have a general idea, plastics and tins go into my blue recycling bin, whilst cardboard goes into a brown bag. Then everything else in general waste. But what plastics are we able to recycle?
Are your councils making it abundantly clear?
Plastic Recycling Is The Future – Are You Ready For Change?
Why are we not using recycled materials all the time? I know when looking for things to buy, I don’t see the majority are made from recycled materials and plastics are still being created when we have such an abundance of them already. Are you choosing the right eco-friendly packaging? Plastic recycling is the future and using materials that are already recycled is a great start!
Have you considered that more can be done by the government but they don’t spend the money on it? Do you think plastic recycling is the future?
Our government is anchoring to be a forward-thinking, Green country where we are reducing our emissions, but what about the exponential amount of waste out there?
Are we doing enough as it is? Well, I think in my case, I am not. Well, until the last couple of months.
How Have I Reduced My Plastic Consumption?
Over the last few months, I have taken many steps into changing my plastic consumption and including my carbon footprint. Plastic recycling is the future and is going to make a huge change to our environment.
I’ve firstly planted a couple of trees in my garden, as well as having some in pots ready for when we move house eventually.
I have been reducing my plastic consumption, recycling where I can and making sure what I purchase is recyclable and made from recycled materials. Everything I am buying, I am checking if it can be recycled, it’s made from recycled materials and reducing the amount of plastic I am purchasing. The products I purchase are mostly recycled plastic as plastic recycling is the future.
I’ve already stopped using single used products as much as possible, including plastic products too. So for example, I stopped using plastic cotton buds and changed to bamboo. I also stopped using single use make up remover cotton wool and bought washable and reusable face pads. These have done wonders for my skin, which I wrote about elsewhere.
The issue I have at the moment is that I drink bottled water and instead of purchasing loads of small bottles, I have switched to buying largest ones available for me to use. I’ve tried drinking tap water and using filters but I am not able to stomach much. However, I have started making green recycled gifts to my friends and family.
As I eat a plant based diet, I wat quite a high amount of vegetables and where possible, I purchase vegetables that are not wrapped in a form of plastic. Like asparagus for example, I get the bundles that are not wrapped up. However, a lot of the food is in plastic in some form.
Being eco-friendly, plant based and natural can be hard when you are trying very hard to reduce your footprint on the planet, with everything being wrapped up in plastic pretty much. Don’t forget that plastic recycling is the future.
We also had an asbestos garage that we had removed, so also think about the dangers of asbestos for your health also.
Your actions can save the world with the environment.
Are you making waves to change your plastic consumption? Plastic recycling is the future!

Oh, wow – yes! Those plastic-wrapped veggies drive me crazy, too. We bought some of the reusable fruit/vegetable bags last year, and they help, but there are still plenty of things you just can’t buy loose. Some of the supermarkets have started using cardboard containers instead of plastic for things like mushrooms, which is great. I just wish it was more widespread. This was a great read – thank you. 🙂
