Green Your Beauty Regime
If you’re passionate about your beauty and skincare regime, but you’re also passionate about sustainability, you do not have to make a choice between the two. Increasingly, beauty brands are embracing green ethics and that means you have more choice than ever before.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at some simple steps you can take to green your beauty regime right now:
Switch to sustainable beauty brands
A really easy way to instantly green your beauty regime is to switch to brands like B.U. Beauty Brand and Axilogy who are serious about sustainability in everything they do. You don’t have to switch your existing makeup – that would not be a smart move for the environment – but when you run out of lipstick or mascara, be sure to replace them with a greener alternative.
Stop using face wipes
Yes, you can get some face wipes that are greener than others, face wipes that are biodegradable or made from sustainable materials, for example, but a lot of resources still go into their manufacture, and when you can simply use a reusable face cloth instead, it makes sense to ditch them completely.
Oh, and it’s not just face wipes either, you can buy reusable makeup pads, and cotton bud alternatives too, so you really can replace most single-use beauty items if you want to.
Go packaging free
If you possibly can, then choosing products like shampoo and conditioner bars, which do not require any packaging, will dramatically reduce your beauty-related carbon footprint. If that isn’t possible, then look for packing that has been recycled and which can be recycled again, so at least it will not be sent to landfill where it can leech chemicals back into the earth.
Turn the tap off
When you are brushing your teeth or conditioning your hair or cleaning your face, for example, turn the water off at the source when you do not need it. Three is no need to, for example, leave the shower running while you are waiting for your conditioner to do its thing and turning it off will help to conserve tons of water over the years.
Make your own beauty treatments
These days, it is really easy to find DIY recipes for face masks and hair masks, and things like that which contain all-natural ingredients like sugar, honey and avocados. So, if you want to really reduce your reliance on chemicals, making our own beauty treatments is a good place to start, and actually, many of them work even better than the store-bought alternatives!
Buy cruelty-free
Last, but definitely not least, try to look for more cruelty-free beauty products, not only are they often ore likely to have things like sustainable packaging, but they have not caused any harm to our animal friends, which is why they are definitely worth checking out, and it’s never been easier to find cruelty-free products, just look for the leaping bunny!
So there you have it – you really don’t have to choose between looking good and living sustainably!
