Do you have Burnout at Work? Here’s how to Find Out
If you are concerned that you might be suffering from burnout, then you are not alone. So many people are in the same situation as you are right now, but there are things that you can do to try and turn things around. That being said, the first thing that you need to do is know the signs, so you can see how severe your burnout is and so you can take steps to try and make yourself feel better. Want to find out more? Simply look below.
You Feel Disconnected
How many times a week do you feel as though you have Zoom meetings? How many times do you ask yourself, “why am I doing this?” If you just feel as though you are not progressing in your career or if you feel overworked, then this is not normal and it’s also not something that you should feel you have to put up with. If you want to do something about this then you need to try and look at the reasons why you could be burnt out. Do you feel as though you spend too much time sat in meeting after meeting? Do you feel as though your job is stagnant and that you are just not getting anywhere? Maybe you just find that you are working too many hours and you don’t know what to do about it. Either way, things like this can lead to a lack of productivity and this is the last thing that you need. At times you may also feel isolated or that you simply lose interest in the few things that are outside work. If this is the case, then it is so important that you make a change. If you don’t now, then you may find that things get so much worse over time and the effects of it will get even worse, so keep that in mind if you can.
Your Routine has Stopped
If at one point, you stuck to your routine and had everything on track then you will know how frustrating it can be when things take a turn and you can’t get anything done. It may be that you no longer have time to meditate or even that you are simply not able to eat as well as you once did. On top of this, you may find that you are skipping our on your morning run and that it’s harder to concentrate. Either way, this is a major sign of burnout. If you do not fix the issue now, then you may find that things end up getting worse for you and that you are not able to set good boundaries. Work may creep into your personal life, and you might find that your sleep is interrupted too. If this is the case then you need to put the work in to maintain your sleeping routine and you need to focus on your mental health too. If your job stops you from doing this, then you may find that you simply need to make a change.
You’re Cynical
If you are currently in the position where you feel as though nothing you do is going to make your job better, or if you suspect that there is nothing you can do to make a change then this is a major warning sign. It may be that you are just too consumed with the things that are wrong with your career and that you are not able to see past it. You may also find that you are just irritable and that you are obsessed about the small things that are happening at work rather than focusing on how you could change for the better. If you want to do something about this, then you need to try and force yourself to adopt a different mindset. You need to try and pinpoint the issue so that you can turn things around and ultimately see the things you have to change. If you are unable to do this, then now may be the time for you to make a change.
You have Brain Fog
If you feel as though you have a dull or fuzzy feeling in your head, then this is a major sign that you have constant or chronic stress. This can lead to burnout if you are not careful. You may find that you end up making careless errors, that you forget things, miss appointments or simply take longer getting tasks done. You may even find that your house is far messier than normal as well and this can bring you down more than you realise. If you suspect that you have brain fog then sure, there could be other reasons behind this but either way, it’s important that you get to the root of it. If you can, then you will soon find that it becomes easier for you to deal with the issue. Relaxing can be a good way for you to beat brain fog, as it gives you the chance to clear your head. If you don’t know how to relax, why not play some games over at foxy games?
You’re Emotionally Exhausted
Chronic stress can lead to burnout and for some people there is an endpoint. You may find that you get to the point where you just feel so worn out, on an emotional and physical level, to the point where you are unable to continue. If this happens on a regular basis or if you find yourself questioning why you are even with that company anymore then this is a huge red flag, and it is certainly something that you should be trying to deal with as soon as possible. You may feel like you are walking through cement just to drag yourself in the shower, and to work. You may also find that you are simply not able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Remember, if you feel like this, then talking to someone is always a good thing.
