Dehydrating Food? What A Faff

My children love dried food, so I did look for a dehydrator but it all looked like a massive faff and I didn’t have time to ‘faff’ about. Dehydrating food I thought would be hard work.

I got confused with the different types of dehydrators and had no idea what was best. I wanted the easiest and best way for dehydrating food.

All I wanted was a little one for fruit as dried fruit is always eaten in my house.

I was getting annoyed with the price of dried fruit, for a small bag I was paying a large price.

It’s much cheaper, I thought to buy fresh fruit and dehydrate it myself.

From providing information on what type you need, size you need and also going into some great reviews of some of the best dehydrators on the market.

There is even some tips on getting the food how you want. Completely dry? It’s okay! There is information on how to do it. Slightly chewy? Again assistance on how to do it. You can read more here about perishable foods.

It’s so simple after reading how to dehydrate food and I am now off searching on the internet for one that suits me.

Fruit

Dried fruit is so versatile. I use it in a lot of different ways.

Snacks is a great way to use dried fruit, all of my children love dried banana chips.

Using in baking, instead of using fresh fruit and making my muffins mushy, I can now use cut up dried fruit like mango or blueberry.

I also use it in blended smoothies for flavour and pop a bunch on my granola or porridge.

Also you can keep the dried fruit for ages also, so if you do want to use for baking, you can dehydrate a load and pop it in little storage containers until you need it.

It’s also a good way to get rid of your fruit if you have loads left over that won’t be eaten.

Do you like dried fruit? Are you thinking of getting one too?
