This is a great way to manage your anxiety naturally, so let’s get into it!
I wanted to talk about how I manage anxiety naturally without having to depend on medication. Now I am not saying there is anything wrong with taking medications for it, they are really good for a lot of people and at times I wished I was able to tolerate them. But that is the problem, I can’t tolerate taking medications that alter my brain chemistry. I have much worse adverse effects and unable to stay on them for long.
So I knew I had to manage it myself and work through my issues with the help of websites like The Anti Burnout Club, YouTube videos and even supplements. You will see some tips and tricks I use to control my anxiety and also my OCD. When my anxiety is under control, so is my OCD.
How I Manage Anxiety Naturally
There are many things I use to manage my anxiety naturally and we are going to explore the useful ways I found. From aromatherapy to taking lavender capsules, you will see how there are many ways you can do it too. But remember, not everything will work for everyone.
Yoga
If you read my blog, you know I am a huge fan of yoga. I do this for many reasons. There are amazing yoga techniques for anxiety, even IBS and uncomfortable stomach issues.
On The Anti Burnout Club there are some dedicated classes for yoga where you can learn new poses and even if you are a beginner, they are just as good.
I haven’t done yoga for a while as I have been using an exercise bike. So I was very stiff and welcomed stretching my body out. It’s a great way to slow my body down, especially when I am having problems with my adrenaline which happens on occasion.
Breath Work
Getting through a panic attack is really important. These feelings don’t last for long, but they can feel like the end of the world in that moment.
I learnt breathing techniques to get me through panic attacks, this helps lower my heart rate, brings my adrenaline down and helps me relax.
There are some really great classes on The Anti Burnout Club for breathwork and found some new ones to try which I am really excited about! This is how I have been able to manage anxiety naturally.
Aromatherapy
I love aromatherapy, just sitting in a quiet place for 30 minutes with my diffuser running really helps me ground myself and reduce my anxiety and panic. I can choose smells that help calm me or make a blend with active constituents that will help being my levels of anxiety down.
Whether I am working or just need a break, aromatherapy really helps me day to day and combining the techniques on The Anti Burnout Club really helps me bring my anxiety levels right down.
Herbal Tea
Nothing helps me more than a good cup of herbal tea. I drink everything from chamomile to ginger and even mint when my stomach is playing up.
It’s nice to take a moment and sip a delicious hot tea and enjoy a peaceful moment with it. There are some really good healing properties to plants and using them in tea can help your body and mind too.
Turmeric is great for inflammation, mint for the digestive system and chamomile can really help calm you down. This is a great way to take a moment of calm and manage anxiety naturally.
Handling My Triggers
Triggers can cause me to have really bad anxiety and panic attacks, this is mostly related to my body. More so, my digestive system. This can also increase my OCD and obsessive hand washing. As you can imagine, not great for my hands!
I have IBS and can be triggered by food or stress, one of the courses on The Anti Burnout Club that I am doing is one on bloating. There is so much wonderful information on how to reduce bloating but also what can be causing it.
When my IBS is set off, I have panic attacks over it and my anxiety is out of control. I have emetophobia and it can control my life to the point I have days I physically can’t eat. So I fear the worst, I have picked up something and I am going to vomit. Although I don’t, my mind thinks this.
Rationalising what is going on with my body really helps me so watching the video on bloating makes me feel calmer.
Supplements
There is a wide range of supplements out there for anxiety and it would depend on what works for you personally. You can figure out what works for you and manage anxiety naturally.
I take lavender capsules where it is lavender oil in a soft gel capsule. I also take valerian tablets at night when I have sleep issues or severe attacks of anxiety or panic. But there is a wide selection of options available to help you along the way.
Taking the key vitamins such as B12, C, D3, Zinc and Magnesium is a great idea. Then you have other ones such as CBD, 5HTP and L-theanine. You can figure out what you are low on by taking vitamin tests online or asking your GP to run some tests on your vitamin levels. This is a great way to manage anxiety naturally as vitamin levels that are low can cause anxiety and depression.
Anxiety Doesn’t Have To Control Your Life
Sometimes we feel that anxiety is all-encompassing and can be controlling our life but we don’t have to let it. Whether you take medication to help control it or you try the natural approach, or maybe both! You can help control your anxiety and have a better, calmer life.
Try The Anti Burnout Club for their 21 day trial on 10th October, you can give it a try and see how they work for you. From learning breath work to yoga, there is something there for everyone to manage anxiety naturally.
*I was given a trial to test the features of the site and see how I get on. I am not receiving affiliate payments for this, it’s just a really good offer for the 10th of October for World Mental Health Day.
