Soak And Sleep Routine – A Bath Routine For A Good Nights Sleep
I’ve had issues with sleep for many years and I really wanted to talk about my soak and sleep routine which sets me up for a good nights sleep. With tips, tricks and products that will help you unwind, relax and switch your mind off before you go to sleep.
Unwinding, relaxing and spending some time getting yourself ready for a good nights sleep is really important for everyone and is a really good sleep routine to get yourself into, at least once a week!
I work until late so it’s not often I am able to get a bath, but when I do, I make it really special and I relax, unwind and enjoy myself.
So I am going to talk about some products I use for my soak and sleep routine, both in and out of the bath!
Let’s get into my sleep routine!
Soak And Sleep Routine – A Bath Routine For A Good Nights Sleep
Stop the electronics before bed
First, stop the electronics before bed, if you need to do something, read a book.
Blue light is said to energise you and help you concentrate and be mentally alert. So you want to reduce the amount of blue light before bed. This means turning off your phone, TV, devices and do something before bed that takes away the use of the blue light from electronics.
Reading a good book is a great start, check out the Top best selling books to read before bed where you can choose a good book to read and relax, both in and out of the bath.
Why not read a good fantasy or read a good romance book
before bed, letting your mind wander into a whole new world.
Run a beautiful bubble bath
I love a bubble bath before bed, it makes me feel calm and relaxed, but I tend to use bath products that are calming and soothing like Radox muscle soak with sage or a Feel restored bath set from Radox. The Feel Good bubble bath makes you feel relaxed as well as the Stress relief with rosemary and eucalyptus.
Dr Teals Epsom foaming bath with Lavender is a wonderful product for deep relaxation before bed. This is important for your soak and sleep routine.
Use Bath Salts
Epsom salts are wonderful for sleep, when mixed with Lavender such as Westlab’s Sleep Epsom & Dead Sea Salts with Lavender & Jasmine is a wonderful way to use the beautiful aromas to relax, but also unwind with the salts in the bath!
Dr Salts Dead sea bath salts with lavender is another bath salt I love that helps me relax and unwind!
Tisserand Aromatherapy Sleep Bath Salts are also a firm favourite as I love Tisserand as a brand for essential oils and products containing essential oils! Perfect for your soak and sleep routine.
Bath Oils
Tisserand bath oil is my favourite bath oil for when I really need to relax! Aromatherapy Associates is my favourite brand but they do some with quite the hefty price tag! Still, they make the best bath oils and this one is right up there with the best!
Just what you need to unwind for your soak and sleep routine.
Make your own bath products
If you wanted to save costs long term, you could make your own bath products, like bath salts, bath oils and here is how! This is a great way to relax before bed for your soak and sleep routine.
Essential oils you need are:
Lavender
French Lavender – Lavender – Lavender
Lavender is the most popular oil to use in the bath, it’s calming, unwinding and perfect for a good nights sleep.
Valerian
Valerian – Valerian – Valerian
A higher cost, but the wonderful Valerian is perfect for insomnia and is stronger at helping you sleep than Lavender is. It has a pungent scent so only a few drops are needed.
Roman Chamomile
Roman Chamomile – Roman Chamomile – Roman Chamomile
Roman Chamomile is very popular in sleep products, whilst this is more expensive than lavender, again you only need a couple of drops for it to be effective!
Sandalwood
Sandalwood – Sandalwood – Sandalwood
A very woody, rich aroma that helps you sleep throughout the night! Paired with any of the above, you will have a wonderful, restful sleep.
Salts
Whether you want Dead Sea Salts or Himalayan Salts and even Epsom Salts – You want to choose salts to help you drift off.
Epsom salts are very popular for baths and sleep issues as they help with relaxing muscles.
Himalayan salts are perfect for relaxing and cleansing, especially when you need to calm an overactive mind.
You can get a handful of bath salts, add in no more than 6 drops of essential oil and run a nice, calming bath to ease your mind, unwind and relax.
After the relaxing bath
Now you want to keep to your routine of no blue light before bed, get yourself dried and dressed, then spray a sleep spray or use skincare products with calming scents like lavender.
Slip into bed and then unwind!
Sleep sprays
My favourite sleep spray is Tisserand sleep better pillow spray but another popular one that I too use is This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray and then a more affordable one is Feather and Down sleep spray.
Sleepy Skincare
SBC Lavender skincare gel is one of my ultimate favourites, Garnier Lavandin facial oil and Lavender and Chamomile hand balm are my go to products to help me sleep.
Weighted blanket
I love my Koala weighted blanket and I do have several others that I found which are below. But I did write about a more in-depth weighted blanket review where I put several to the test.
The teddy fleece weighted blanket is wonderful as well as the standard weighted blanket.
Final thoughts
I am doing a whole sleep series so you can see what different products I have tried throughout the years, what works and what to avoid before bed.
Whatever you do, change your sleep habits for better sleep and follow my sleep care routines for more ideas!
