Top 5 Lockdown Gift Ideas

We are entering a phase where the country is slowly locking down from town to town and the unknown about Christmas is concerning us, this got me thinking about 5 lockdown gift ideas and some ideas for lockdown presents to send to people.

This is more an adult-themed post and will also have a Children’s Lockdown Gift Ideas post too.

As I don’t know whether I can see family, I’ve been shopping online for ideas to send gifts to people and came up with some great ways to send someone something without physically being there.

It’s been worrying for me and as I like to get Christmas sorted before the middle of November, I have been purchasing things ready for Christmas.

If it turns out I can see my family, it’s fine as they will still have their wonderful gifts and this year, I will mostly be buying through smaller businesses as hampers are high on my list of ideas!

Whether you go for vouchers or presents, here are some wonderful ideas to gift family and friends when you can not be there physically this year.

Here are my top 5 lockdown gift ideas for adults in your life.

Hampers

The most popular of my lockdown gift ideas were hampers. Hampers are a wonderful way to send a lovely gift to someone without having to physically be there.

You can get it sent for whenever you need with some companies and can choose something you know the recipient will love!

Why not think about getting them something different this year and get a t-shirt quilt? The joy of putting together a hamper is that you can fill it with anything that the recipient likes! So, if they collect sports t-shirts, for example, making a quilt from some of their favorite t-shirt designs could be a fantastic addition to a hamper. It’s wearable and affordable, but really different and cool! Or, if you’re not particularly talented when it comes to crafting, why not just get them some of the latest parramatta eels merchandise, for example, to show that you listen and know what team they support!

Plus they can get delivered to anywhere and ordered straight from your sofa!

We’re buying a lot of hampers as gifts this year because a lot of people we are unable to visit.

So far on my list, I have sweet hampers, chocolate hampers, food/drink hampers and even boozy hampers!

Amazon

Of course, I needed one option to be Amazon in my lockdown gift ideas post, with the option to send things as a gift now, you can get all your shopping done through Amazon and sent to wherever you need!

If you don’t have Amazon prime, look out for offers in November when they do the Black Friday Sales as they often have some great discounts for Amazon prime and also offer 1-3 month prime for free.

This way, you don’t pay shipping costs and in most cases, you can get next day delivery. So you can order, get it sent and ask them to keep it stored until the big day.

You can buy most things from Amazon and every year I do use Amazon to purchase presents for family miles away and never had any issues! I do let them know something is coming, just in case there are any problems and they can let me know.

This is also what I am doing for some friends of mine this year, sending wonderful presents mainly from Amazon.

Subscription boxes

Whether you send a food subscription box especially for Christmas or you find a wonderful beauty box subscription, this is a great way to send a gift to someone you love and easily find a theme that suits the recipient.

A couple of years ago, I received a Love Lula subscription from a family member and it was one of the best presents I had. Each month I had a wonderful box of goodies to try out which are natural and cruelty-free.

Chocolate/Sweets

Hotel Chocolat gave me the inspiration to send gift packages with chocolate, like a hamper of sorts to someone who I knew was a huge chocolate lover.

I know sweets could be more aimed at children, but there are Retro Sweets you can order for people and they throw it through the letterbox!

Or places such as Cadbury Gifts Direct are a great way to buy a bunch of different chocolates and sweets and send them out.

Truffles, fudge, old fashioned sweets. There is something for every taste and I will be reviewing some sweets you can get sent through the mail so keep your eyes open!

Vouchers

With online shopping becoming more of the norm, there are many places you can now purchase e-gift cards or even physical gift cards you can also use online.

I know this year I have purchased more in gift cards than physical presents as a lot of the children in my family are not becoming or already teenagers. So they no longer want toys and whatnot, they want their vouchers for gaming or shopping.

This is a great way for the family and friends to buy things they like and stops the issue of returning things to people.

One year, John Lewis vouchers went down a treat with someone in my family!

Then we have Amazon vouchers which are fantastic to send to people!

Final Thoughts

Whatever you decide to do this year, having a backup plan for your gifts is a great idea as you just don’t know what will be happening this year and if it means buying online and having them sent direct, it is the perfect time to get looking through and getting some ideas and plans together.
