Blogging to Increase My Income

Since becoming disabled and having exhaustion, I can only work 30 hours a week from home so I have taken to Blogging to increase my income.

I find working 30 hours does cover the bills but there is barely anything left for luxuries that my family occasionally like.

Since I started earning money from my blog, I have found I now have this spare money to spend on my family. Plus I have the comfort of working from home.

Save up to replace items in the house like a new fridge freezer or sofa. Even just purchased a new toddler bed for my little one in a design he loves (Thomas!) so we can ease the stress of changing from a cot to toddler bed.

Blogging to Increase My Income

Essentially, I don’t blog to pay my bills as that is covered with my employment, but we can buy new things we need around the home.

It’s nice with me having 2 incomes, one I can rely on for the bills and another I don’t have to rely on for luxuries.

Then of course, my other half’s income also.

I can say, even as I start to earn more with my blog, my job will always come first as it is secured, I always have that to rely on if needed.

With blogging, I can take breaks when I want to, have time off to get other things done and never have to fully rely on this as an income, but it’s awesome with the perks.

It’s nice to see my bank balance looking fuller and if I see something, I can now purchase this with the money I have been saving.

Another good thing about both working from home and also blogging… is I can have MY OWN COFFEE.

Honestly, one thing I could never get over from working in offices is the abysmal coffee they have in little paper cups. Lukewarm, bitter and no real milk.
Oh, it haunted me for years. It really did!

Now I can nip downstairs, pop my Dolce Gusto on and relax whilst working with a good cup of coffee. I know, the little things in life hey?

Also with blogging, I can spend a week doing loads of posts, have them go live on whatever day they fancy then spend 2 weeks relaxing (Better if I have a week off work)

I have my own schedule with working anyway and blogging fits around that.I mostly spend my evenings writing out my posts and reviewing items as needed.I get up when I want to (Same time every day) and don’t have to worry about getting ready for work. I can work in my pj’s or comfortable clothes and not work clothes or a uniform.

I am not a people person. I hate office politics. I enjoy it, without the stress of speaking to people.

I don’t like the mindless chatter with co-workers and I am a very introverted person.

Working from home and blogging means I don’t have to engage in talking to people. Okay so do work for a call centre and always on the phone, but that is part of my job. As it’s online-based, I don’t have to speak to my colleagues in person. It’s internet-based which suits me better.

I have close friends that are in the blogging community and we speak all day, through messaging. Not over the phone.

I spend so much time on calls, it’s refreshing not having to talk to anyone by opening my mouth.

Anyway, so a few do give up their full-time job to solely work on their blog, something I could never personally do because it is a lot of hard work and I depend on my salary, There I go again, totally getting off the point!

Working on going from full-time work to full-time blogging and earning the same amount can be tough, it can take years to get to that point and you have to heavily rely on constant work flowing freely. Something that I think would stress me.

There is a post that shows some really handy tips on ditching the day job and turning blogging into a venture but be warned, it is not easy and this is stated in the post.

Blogging to pay the bills provides some good tips on that moment you consider turning your adventure into a full-time job.

I had a read and did provide some insightful information, I have been thinking about eventually reducing my hours at work, but not quite there yet to make the full jump.

Have you considered making a career from your blog?

What would stop you from making that all-important jump into being a full-time blogger?
