Easy Ways To Invest In Yourself (And Not Feel Guilty For Doing So)

Often in life, we can forget about the importance of treating ourselves. Of course, it is always nice when someone else treats us – a friend, family member or a partner, maybe. But waiting and relying on someone else to do nice things for us can be risky, as it won’t always happen! The best thing to do is to rely on yourself to do nice things for you. It might sound like a bit of an oxymoron, but hey, if you can’t rely on yourself then who can you rely on? We spend a lot of time in this day and age being hard on ourselves, and self-love is still a bit of a taboo. But start investing in yourself as you would a friend and you can see some really positive changes to your life.

Buying some pretty things
Be honest – when was the last time you bought something for yourself that wasn’t simply functional? Most of us spend money on ourselves every single day, but it’s hard to get too excited about the usual grocery shop, or buying a fresh set of tea towels or something! In short, when was the last time you bought something simply because you wanted to buy it? Of course, it’s never advisable to go overboard – few items are worth risking your financial sanity over. But if it’s been awhile since you got something new that you really wanted, don’t be afraid to flash the plastic! Push yourself out of your comfort zone with what you normally buy yourself and make sure it’s something you would like to receive as a gift. It doesn’t need to cost you a fortune either. Many major stores like Victoria’s Secret feature on sites such as DontPayFull.com, so you can snag a dreamy item at a fraction of the original price.

Giving yourself a night off

We are a nation of workaholics. With so many of us being digitally connected to our jobs through our laptops and social media, a lot of us find it hard to switch off. Or, our naturally productive nature makes us feel guilty when we do anything except work. But in order to truly excel in our professional lives, we need to make sure we are well-rested and in the right frame of mind to do so. There’s nothing at all wrong with enjoying some well-earned pamper time, so put on a face mask and settle down for a night of Netflix.

Taking up a new hobby

If you know you are unlikely to make any time for yourself without a bit of prompting, take up a new hobby to force you to do so. This could be anything from an art class to yoga, or you could even venture into learning a new sport. Booking onto a class makes you accountable, meaning you are more likely to actually go – and once you’re there you might find that you really enjoy it! There’s nothing wrong at all with spending a bit of money on yourself in a way that will enrich your life, after all.
