Comparing Yourself To Others
Being as connected as we are is amazing. The ability to see what all of our friends and families are up to with a simple scroll of a screen can be a hugely positive thing. You may be someone who likes to keep up on trends or get an insight into the life of a celebrity or social media influencer to inspire your life and ultimately, make you happier.
However, social media does have its downsides if we are not paying attention. It can be very easy to look at other people’s lives and wish that we have what they had. Jealousy can be quite a consuming emotion if left unchecked, and the constant stream of images of beautiful people living their best lives means that these negative emotions can sneak up on us.
If you notice this kind of emotion is causing you to feel unhappy or angry, then it’s time to take some decisive action.
Firstly, you might want to stop looking at the accounts of people who make you feel this way, and secondly, you may want to look at managing your screen time. There are plenty of apps you can download to track and limit your time on social media.
Look elsewhere for your inspiration in life. If the people you look up to are making you feel bad about yourself; then they are not the role models for you. Treat yourself with the respect that you deserve and replace these people that set an example for you to follow. Look at people who have gained success through their outlook rather than their looks. Pick people with a positive message, over those that have nothing to say.
You should focus on your own strengths as a person for a better you. There may be things that you are exceptionally good at that you are overlooking. You may develop resentments towards others without really knowing them. Take the time to get to know people better, to understand them as people which are good habits to kick for a better you.

You might be worried about something that you think is going to happen, then you spend so much time worrying you cannot focus on anything else, and you get nothing done, you get behind on your work or life gets on top of you. Negativity can snowball, and you need to avoid it if possible or stop it in its tracks when you see it.
Positive thinking is a routine which will create a better you. Look at ways of building positivity into your day so you can look for habits to kick for a better you. Start with the morning. Look at how you get out of bed. Maybe start the day with your favorite song to help you create a better you. Sing in the shower and eat a healthy, filling breakfast. Being thankful for the people around you can really reset your positivity. Letting them know that you appreciate them will make them feel good and might help them return the positive feeling to you.
Spending time with other positive people is really helpful. When people say no to everything, or have a view of the world that just drags you down; it can be hard to keep yourself from being negative too.
Look at things in your life that are causing you to feel negative. Maybe it is reading the comments sections on certain Facebook pages, possibly it is your job, or it might be the type of TV you watch. Look for ways to change the habit or situation. Replace the negative things in your life with something new, which makes you feel good about yourself and the world around you.
