Is Cougar Dating A Thing?

Whilst talking to some friends, we got on to the subject of whether cougar dating was actually a real thing and it turns out, that is really is.

I started looking around the internet to see if there were specific websites for cougar dates and it seems there is quite a few with quite a high number of regular users.

Nothing against cougar dating at all, I am quite curious about the whole dating aspect.

Interestingly, there are specific dating sites for an array of things, including looking for younger males/females, older males/females, specific fetishes and so much more!

When I think of dating I think of places like plenty of fish or eharmony, not My Cougar Dates or specific websites relating to this.

One of my friends is interested in older men, so I thought it was a good idea to discuss how she finds dating online. It was quite an interesting conversation.

The one point she wanted to make was to really research the person you are talking to. A couple of times she was catfished or a man was using others pictures. A good way to find out about them was to actually look on google and social media, although this can never guarantee they are a real person.

So she met and fell in love with her husband through a dating site looking for older men specifically. She is really happy now and although she had quite a few strange ones or misleading people, she did get there in the end.

One thing she advised also was that there is a lot of scammers on cougar dating types of sites. You can generally tell by their English skills or where they are located.

Avoid speaking to anyone outside of the country and never give out personal details such as bank details, address and of course never give them money for things such as a funeral for a family member, a flight to come and see you.

Should they advise they are a millionaire but need money, run as fast as you can and do not speak with them again.

Try to use your initiative with online dating, whether this is being cautious with your details or not giving anyone money for a various amount of reasons.

I know it can be hard to say no sometimes, but you must ensure that you are not scammed out of your money, especially through cougar dating sites.

When online dating, please be safe and do as much background checking as you can before you meet anyone from off the internet.

Even try webcam or the like so you can see they are who they are. If you are really uncomfortable, you could ask to see proof of who they are, obviously hiding their address etc.

Before signing up to a dating website, make sure you also check their terms, charges and make sure it is a legitimate website.

Occasionally there is the random phishing website or one that will use ‘validation checks’ but withdrawal money from your bank account.

Be safe and of course, check everything you use and who you talk to. Think about mature dating and staying safe.
