Types Of Engineering

There are many types of engineering, from computer to architectural. You get to choose which your option is and which path you want to go down. Check out the different types of engineering.

So I had an interesting conversation with my 13-year-old son who has decided he wants to be some form of an engineer. He hasn’t decided what kind as of yet as he has a lot to learn and there is quite a wide range of types of engineering.

We sat down and discussed the different options available, from computer to vehicles. There was so many to choose from.

In the end, he decided a more computer-based job would be right up his street, but he is also interested in other forms such as Aerospace.

It got me thinking and found with there being so many options, this would make a great post!

Computer

Computers play a massive part in our every day life and I know my son has quite a keen interest in computer engineering.

Whether this is actually with the computer itself, or under the internet in some form. There is plenty to do and plenty to learn. Jobs are easier to come by.

Architectual

Buildings are always being created, as we start to expand across barren lands, a whole host of buildings need to be created.

Maybe areas are being knocked down that are in disrepair and making way for something new, architectual engineers are always needed.

You may need to have some form of interest in this if you want to make a career out of it.

Automotive

Vehicles will always be a necessity in our lives, whether we have a vehicle ourselves, or we use public transport.

This is certainly a plentiful job with many different paths to choose from.

Aerospace

A little harder to get into working within the aerospace career however a very rewarding job.

I live not far from an aerospace location so I know there would be something in the area for this, however jobs here don’t come up as often as you think.

These are more lifetime opportunities so the turnover is very low.

Electronic

We use electronics all the time, from our computer to a coffee maker. However some countries don’t have many opportunities such as Japan for example where electronics are made in more of an abundance.

Whilst we continue to use the latest technologies, there will always be a demand for this.

Marine

We will always need boats, whether it’s one used by the public or the government, we will always have a demand for the use of a boat, submarine and other water based methods of travel.

You could even consider an option in naval architects.

All in all, there is many options to choose from and so many more!

This can have many benefits of fixing your own electronics also!
