It’s a no-brainer that exercise is important to stay in shape and remain healthy. Strength training

Both genders have a tendency to associate strength training to bulky bodybuilders who seem to consider the gym their second home. But if you go to the gym with a solid workout programme only three times a week, you will quickly see results. Start with a simple 5×5 programme consisting of compound lifts (squat, deadlift, bench press, rows, and overhead press), and you will be set for at least six months to a year without having to change a thing. You will quickly build the routine with progressive load increases. You will know exactly what to do once in the gym, which makes for a very effective workout. With martial arts, you will not only train your body, but also your mind which has great, real-world benefits. These can include added confidence, becoming more grounded, and improving your focus. The added benefit of being able to defend yourself makes martial arts a very popular way of exercising.

Walking

As the weather permits, walking is an excellent type of exercise. Easily done regardless of your body type and weight, most people can put on shoes and go for a walk. Walking is also easy to implement in your day-to-day life, hop off the underground a stop or two early and walk the rest of the way. Take a walk to the store instead of driving the car. Walk to get take-away instead of having it delivered to your place (bonus tip: make it your goal that if you want to eat something that isn’t healthy, always walk to get it. This makes sure that you REALLY want the food, especially if your favourite restaurant is on the other side of town).

So, stop using the excuse “I hate treadmills” for not exercising. There are plenty of ways to have fun while moving more!
