You may not know this but the habits and rituals you follow each day have a significant impact on the way your day turns out. When you do not take care of your health and have bad habits that you fall back on you will never be able to reach your peak level of productivity. Take 10,000 Steps Each Day
Experts agree that you need to be taking at least 10,000 steps each day to ensure that you stay healthy. When you reach this goal every day and follow a healthy lifestyle, you will significantly decrease your risk of developing a chronic illness like diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and heart disease. Fortunately, it is quite easy to track the number of steps you take each day. You can get yourself a pedometer or a smartwatch but your smartphone should also have a built-in pedometer. So you have no excuse, get out there and go for a walk with your dog and the next time you go to the supermarket, park your car a little further away from the entrance.
Get Into Mindfulness
Meditation has become increasingly popular in recent years for a very simple reason. It works. When you practice mindfulness every day you will notice dramatic differences in your emotional as well as physical wellbeing. Not only can meditation reduce your levels of stress and anxiety but it also helps with memory loss, increases your attention span and lowers blood pressure. When it comes to meditation, you can start small. Spend five minutes each day looking inward. Meditation can also take other forms such as being conscious of your body and mind during a yoga class. You can even practice walking meditation; an added bonus to this form of meditation is that it helps you work in those 10,000 steps each day.
Drink More Water
The ordinary person needs to be drinking at least eight glasses of water each day. However, many people fight to meet this goal on a daily basis. Dehydration is a very dangerous condition, which leaves you feeling fatigued, lightheaded and even confused. Once you develop a practice of drinking enough water, you will be astonished by the results. Proper hydration leaves you feeling refreshed and full of energy. It also has great effects on the condition of your hair, skin, and nails. It may be tempting to reach for an energy drink when you are studying but your brain will thank you if you drink a glass of water instead.
Stop Using Your Phone Before Bed Time
This is a very common bad habit that many people have. It can be easy to fall into a pattern of mindlessly scrolling through your social media feed before you go to sleep. However, this is terrible for your health. Not only will you struggle to fall asleep but also the quality of your sleep rapidly deteriorates because artificial lights disrupt your brain chemicals. It might also be worth it to replace all of your light bulbs in your bedroom to soft yellow toned lights to mimic natural lighting. You should try to give yourself at least two hours of screen-free time before going to sleep for the night. Take a warm bath and read a book. You will sleep better and wake up rested and ready to take on the world.
Eat A Balanced Diet
The food we put into our bodies makes an enormous impact on the way you feel. Food is the fuel, which keeps us running and if we continuously fuel our bodies with sugars, and unhealthy fats it will begin to break down. A healthy balanced diet, which includes lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, healthy fats, and lean meats, may lead to a significant increase in your lifespan. To maintain a healthy diet it is important to limit yourself to three small meals each day with two healthy snacks in between. Making the change to a healthy balanced diet will also make a dramatic difference in your life, as it will help you lose weight and feel better about yourself. Weight loss can help alleviate symptoms of certain lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension.
